Night Will Fall

Amongst all the drama movie in the series of holocaust movies on Netflix, Night Will Fall is a documentary belonging to that period. It is directed by Andre Singer. Night Will Fall highlights the making of British government documentary German Concentration Camps Factual Survey in 1945.

The plot shows the newly freed Nazi Concentration Camps and totally deal with the gruesome lives of people afterwards.

With the mixing of footage from earlier documentary, it makes a total of 75 amazing and reality driven minutes in it. It is told in this documentary that how important it is to film the war scenes. There are some interviews here with the survivors of that time too.

Steal a Pencil for Me

Steal a Pencil for Me is another documentary feature film in this series of holocaust movies on Netflix. It has the essence of romance and of course the urgency of that Hitler period too. It is directed by Michele Ohayon.

The plot belongs to the time of 1943 which is around the World War II and Holland is completely under the Nazi rule now.

You are going to find the story of this feature film a tad bit different than most of the movies mentioned here. This is because it revolves around a man, his wife and his girlfriend. Jack, who is married to Manja, loves someone else named Ina. Their life changes when three of them end up in the same concentration camp and even in the same barrack.

Amidst this chaos, Jack and Ina starts writing letter to each other as Manja doesn’t like Jack’s intentions towards Ina despite their unhappy marriage life and hence the name of the movie originates.

The last one in the list of holocaust movies on Netflix is Woman in Gold. This is a biographical drama movie which is directed by Simon Curtis. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Charles Dance, Helen Mirren, Katie Holmes and other popular actors in it.

Woman in Gold is based on the true story of Maria Altmann who is an old Jewish refugee living in Los Angeles right now.

It is about how Maria along with her young advocate Randy Schoenberg fights with the government of Austria. The issue is that she wants to reclaim the iconic painting of her aunt Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I which got stolen by the Nazis before World War II in Vienna.

Well, she reaches to even Supreme Court of US for this and the climax of this movie is just priceless. A must watch amongst the holocaust movies and surely quite dramatic too.

  • Hitler: The Career

Rotten Tomatoes: 68% IMDb: 7.1/10

There are multiple reasons why I’m mentioning “Hitler: The Career” on this list. First, it’s a documentary and not exactly a film. This separates it from a number of options on this list. It traces the rise and fall of Herr Hitler himself!

Secondly, it features some “never seen before” footage from the secret achieves!

The film explores how Hitler, who was born in Austria, became a political activist and eventually rose to power in Germany. It examines his early life and his experiences during World War I, as well as his role in the formation of the Nazi Party, how he rose to power (and then slid down from it).

The documentary also looks at Hitler’s policies, how he thinks, it obviously covers his anti-Semitism and world domination plan, the impact they had on the world during the war and in the years that followed and so much more.

It’s a 2hour 30minute movie and is rated U/A meaning you can watch it with your family.

This has without doubt been one of the most informative watches for me recently.
